Resilience Committee - From August 2015 this is incorporated into the Finance & Policy Committee

Committee consists of:-

Mr M Lucas, Chairman

Mrs L Cowap

Mrs N Thompson

After the major floods in July 2007 a group of residents set up a Resilience Group to help improve the town's response should such an emergency occur again. The Group disbanded and at that juncture the Town Council agreed to take on this role and formed a Resilience Committee. The primary aim of the Resilience Committee is to develop an Emergency Plan for the town which would cover all possible emergencies and not just flooding. The Emergency Plan will outline how the town can respond if there is a delay in the emergency services arriving and what resources and amenities are in place to support people involved and affected by the emergency, such as temporary accommodation.

A successful Emergency Plan is designed to keep people safe from harm and also to improve communication in the event of an emergency to ensure that problems are dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In order for the Emergency Plan to be a successful it is essential that parishioners are involved both in the development of the Plan and its activation in the event of an emergency. The Council is currently struggling to get residents on board but if you feel you could help in any way then please contact the Clerk of the Council in the first instance.

The Agenda for forthcoming meetings will be posted on this page. If you would like a copy of any of the Committee Meeting Minutes then please contact the Clerk of the Council on 01608 651448 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
